1What is a paediatrician?
A paediatrician is a doctor who has specialised in medical care for children. They typically attend to children from Birth Through their teenage years Paediatricians diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions in children, ranging from allergies, infections, to behavioural and learning problems.
2How often must my child visit the paediatrician?

It’s advisable to visit the paediatrician regularly especially for infants and not just at the time of a severe illness. Well-child visits occur periodically at least every 3 months in the first year of life. In infants these visits are to monitor your child’s growth and development .Certain conditions like Hip dislocation, Dysplasia, Hearing impairment and head growth need to be detected early to ensure good outcomes.

What happens at a well-child visit?

You can ask the paediatrician questions related to your child’s, development, nutrition, and behaviour at a well-child visit. Well infants should visit routinely until four years. Every older child should attend yearly well-child visits for a regular health checks neurological neuro development assessment as well as vaccinations.

3Does my child have to be vaccinated?
Immunisations are advisable for every child to prevent life-threatening childhood diseases. There are specific ages for your child to receive vaccinations. If you are sceptical about vaccinations, Please contact our practice for more information.

5What do I need to bring for my child’s first visit?
For your child’s first visit to the paediatrician, you must bring the following.
  • Immunisation Records
  • Medical aid card, main member identity document and patient birth certificate
  • Medical Records from your child s previous Dr
  • Current medication including chronic medication prescribed by your gp
  • Asthmatics should bring all pumps and spacer etc.
6When should I notify your practice to cancel or reschedule an already booked appointment?
Please inform us as soon as possible via telephone or email, we do not charge for cancellation but please inform us time….
7What is your after-hours policy?
Emergencies – After hours please go the trauma unit inform the doctor that Dr Cajee is your child Paediatrician She /He will assess and contact Dr Cajee if required.
